“The opposite of war is human longing, human love for peace. People do not understand what peace is. You cannot even think or talk about peace if you do not have your own peace of mind.”
-Yogi Bhajan (Prosperity Paths Sept. 2004)
The questions on the table are:
“How are we all going to get along on planet Earth?”
“How will we bring peace to this planet filled with conflict?”
“How will we come together as one human tribe?”
These are important questions to ask because we have nowhere else to go. Planet Earth is our home while we live in these human bodies. Despite our diversity, we are ONE family of humans. The consciousness of the Aquarian Age demands that we come together in unity which does not mean we become a blob of homogenized sameness, but we live in harmony while still respecting our differences.
Real long-lasting peace will not come through the politicians or organizations promoting peace. Real peace will come through the individual—one by one until the whole world is vibrating peace.
War is the ultimate in division and separation of humanity. Spiritually, war is the projection of group shadow on to another. Shadows are the parts of the unconscious mind that we have judged, repressed and denied as qualities that belong to us. A good example of shadow at work is the KKK leader who was caught having sex with a black male prostitute. It is human nature to fight our shadow tooth and nail because to embrace it means to feel isolated and in pain. It is part of the healing process.
Shadows keep our mind at war and our relationships in disharmony. Peace will come to us and to the world when we finally make peace with our own shadows. We are all experiencing life through our own mind so we do not see the world as it is but see it through the present condition of our mind. Peace will come when we take responsibility for our own mind projections.
You may have had the experience of listening to a friend complain about someone and you laugh inside because you know that she is only describing herself. The mechanics of the shadow make it obviously clear to you but not to your friend. It is easy to see your shadow in another person, especially someone who is very close to you.
One simple way to embrace your shadows is to list all the people who you avoid, judge, and cannot forgive. Write down your judgments and then own each one as you. For example, “She is selfish, she only talks about herself and has no time for anyone else.” Then write down, “Sometimes I can be selfish and only want to talk about me and I have no time for anyone else.” When you are no longer judging and excluding others then you know you are closer to achieving peace of mind.
One of the qualities of the Aquarian Age is to live as a self-sovereign human being. This means taking full responsibility for our present state of consciousness and what we create in our world. It is universal law that when we make inner peace with all parts of ourselves, we will see this peace reflected back to us in our world.
